“What!?! You write a blog about brunch in LA and you haven’t been to Toast!?!”
If I heard this one more time, I was gonna scream… So one Saturday morning, I put on my best cut-up T-Shirt, jean shorts and combat boots and made my way to Toast Bakery Cafe.
It was your typical LA hot spot: Indoor/outdoor seating. 40 minute wait. Salads and Lattes. The Usual. And after visiting countless brunch spots, I know the popularity of places in LA is not so much about the food but what the place itself represents.
Toast is on 3rd Street in the mix of it all. It’s trendy, laid back, has cool tables and plush couches inside and a dog-friendly patio outside. Honestly, what more can my fellow Los Angelinos want.
The food, however, is just OK. I had the Coffe Cake Crusted French Toast and a side of Ham. There wasn’t anything mind blowing about it. It wasn’t bad but I’ve had much better. While I can’t rave about my meal, I can rave about the latte designs! I’ve had swans, trees, flowers but NEVER have I had a puppy in my latte! Check out the pics…
Pros: Coolest latte design I’ve seen in LA; Good portions; great service; cool vibe
Cons: Didn’t quite live up to the Hype; Parking; Food was just OK…
