So you say you’ve got the best? I’ll be the judge of that! It’s not often that I actually believe the hype, but every now and then, I am humbled when I come across someone who claims to be “the best” and I actually agree. Ladies and gentleman… I present to you…. “CRACK BACON” from The Grub!
The Grub is not your average LA brunch spot. It’s a house. Like, an actual house in a neighborhood. You really feel like you’re sitting at Grandma’s kitchen eating her famous CRACK bacon. The name itself is enticing and really prepares you for the goodness that is this Hollywood Gem.
The drink menu is fun. They put a new spin on mimosas with blackberry juice and of course, kept it real classy in the mason jars. Keeping with the theme, the pre-meal dish is dry cereal, like captain crunch, cocoa puffs and fruit loops, in those colorful plastic bowls you ate out of as kids… very nostalgic.
And the food is amazing. I’ve never been disappointed. Whether it’s their croissant french toast, the BALT sandwich or chicken pesto sausage scramble, it’s good! Eggs are fresh. Potatoes are seasoned well. But nothing on your plate is complete without the CRACK bacon. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and savory. Crispy but not overcooked. Honestly, I took small bites just so it wouldn’t end.
Pros: CRACK bacon; croissant french toast; atmosphere
Cons: Get creative with your parking to avoid valet; a little hard to find (but this could also be a pro)
