Paint Nite Los Angeles… What a creative concept! In short, Paint Nite is an evening event when local artists host a painting classes at a local bars. It’s that simple… yet genius!
If you follow my blog, you already know how I found out about it: Groupon… and I’m so glad I did!
There are many Paint Nite classes to choose from. You can chose by artist, painting, location, skill level or date. For us, the artist and the painting were important because I wanted to be taught by someone cool and I knew whatever we painted, had to be something I didn’t mind putting on my walls.
Our artist for the evening was Ezra Edmond. Step-by-step, Ezra walked us through how to paint the “Orange Sunset.” Kind of a laid-back dude but also very attentive and animated. His class was held at the upstairs, outdoor bar at the Rockwell Table and Stage in Hollywood.
Setting up was already done when we arrived so we literally just found a seat and ordered drinks as we waited for Ezra to begin. The evening turned out to be so relaxing. To sit with a martini and use your paint brush to reveal new colors that eventually transformed into this abstract work, was truly therapeutic.
The entire process, from start to finish was about an hour and 15 minutes although Ezra did allow us to stay a little longer to perfect our masterpieces.
Pros: Therapeutic experience; you’re expected to drink and paint; the step-by-step instructions allow you to create something anyone (artist or not) can be proud of.
Cons: Was a little hard to see and hear in the back of the room;
