So a friend of mine has been begging me to try Napoleon’s Macaronsat the Americana at Brand in Glendale (a great outdoor shopping/dining center). So finally, we were in the area doing some shopping and I decided to try it.
Here’s the thing with me and macarons… I just learned what the hell they were this year. Someone at my office brought in some Earl Grey macarons (horrible first experience) so I was skeptical about these.
The flavors at Napoleon’s were a little eyebrow-raising. For example, French Lavender… Now when I think of Lavender, I think of Jergens Baby Bath… Just me? I just couldn’t imagine eating a clean little baby. Lol. Nonetheless, I went in with an open mind, and mouth, and was not disappointed.
The flavors we tried were French Lavender (which ended up being my favorite), Pistachio (tasted like it was supposed to), Caramel (sweet, little too sweet) and Ethiopian Espresso (for the coffee lovers). They’ve got a lot more flavors too, including Hazelnut Praline, Lemon Meringue Pie & Tiramisu, but at almost $2/macaroon, we kept it low-key.
Must admit, this was a much better experience than those Earl Grey macarons.
If you’re interested, it’s located at a stand right in front of Disney Baby.
Pros: the stand is designated to macarons so there’s quite a selection; great dessert spot after a full shopping day and dinner at the Americana.
Cons: the cheapest discount you can get is on 12… That’s a lot of macarons!
