Alcove will always have a special place in my heart. Not only is the food amazing, but it’s also the place where I made the biggest decision of my life… The decision to leave behind my life in DC to start a brand new one in LA!
It was the day before I was set to go back to DC. I sat with a very close friend of mine and weighed my options. Cajun salmon burger on the table, sun shining perfectly, breeze blowing at just the right speed… Honestly, it was some movie shit! The people were perfect, dressed in some of the coolest rags, mixed races, all looking so cool! I knew this is where I wanted to be…
Dramatic. I know. But I’ve been back to Alcove many times since that day and it always gives me the same feeling (nostalgic maybe). It’s classic LA. Good food. Good ambiance. Good people. Hanging out. Nowhere to really go (or so it seems).
I recommend the salmon burger… SOOOO Good! But if you’re in the mood for real breakfast, any of the omelettes are great! Also, I’m not a fan of crepes but have gone with people who like the peaches and creme’ crepes.
It can get pretty packed on the weekends so be patient but they have a pretty smooth system for ordering and being seated that has never failed me and my party.
Pros: Ambiance and service; the salmon burger
Cons: Some tables have really uncomfortable medal chairs (made to make you get up); parking (only when VIP gets full)
