Let’s start by giving a special shout out to dineLA for hosting Restaurant Week 2014 Winter Edition. It’s due to this fine invention that my girls and I were introduced to Sadie’s Kitchen & Lounge in Hollywood.

Hidden immediately off of Hollywood Blvd. (on Las Palmas Ave.), Sadie’s Kitchen is definitely more than it looks outside. It’s the kind of place you’d have to purposefully be going, not the kind of place you’ll find riding by. But honestly, that’s one of the things I liked about it.

We were seated in the main dining room which is an indoor/outdoor area that I’m sure is quite lovely when LA is back at its normal weather of mid-70s. For us, however, heaters were available and necessary. There is also an indoor lounge where a separate event was being hosted.

The Restaurant Week menu included 3 appetizers, 2 main courses and a desert per person. With four of us, we ordered the entire menu and got a taste of bacon-vinaigrette brussel sprouts, grilled octopus, hole-rubbed steak, fried chicken and waffles and so much more. All small plates so don’t worry, you won’t fold over from over-eating.

I think the most outlandish dish we had was the roasted bone marrow… it was actual bone marrow. The best, I think we agreed, was the pan seared sea bass. The worst, unfortunately, was the fried chicken and waffles (they must’ve forgotten to season the chicken before they fried it).

Pros: A+ for the ambiance, the venue (gorgeous high ceilings), the heaters, and the one man band who played some of our favorite covers.

Cons: Good ole Hollywood parking fees, Chicken and Waffles
